Several Irvine home owners are living off the land. According to the United States Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service, farm living has increased at the rate of 2 percent a year. The majority of owners aren't interested in farming for a profit.
Farm living isn't for everyone, mostly because it involves a lot of work. Another reason why people stay away from moving to a farm is because of the isolation factor. Nevertheless, if you love open space and would like a challenge, farm living could be for you.
